Had to be a little cagey with the title on YouTube.
So lately I've been reading and/or playing one-to-three-shots of various RPGs (Block/Dodge/Parry, Cairn, Deathbringer, Errant, The GLOG, Into the Odd, Knave, Old-School Essentials, Vagabond, Whitehack) and, look, I know we don't really need more RPG systems...but the game designer brain in me got to thinking about how certain bits of one system could connect to certain bits of another, and if I just tweaked this bit...anyway, I wound up making an RPG system.
It's called Rat Fuck...for now. Just from looking at various systems named things like Knave, Vagrant, and Errant, it seemed in keeping, if a bit more obnoxious. I didn't really consider that this would affect my ability to talk about the game on advertiser-focused platforms like YouTube, or people's willingness to playtest it with kids. So I'm open to new names, if you have any suggestions!
So Rat Fuck is a 16-page printer-friendly booklet RPG (currently for A4 paper, but I'll make a letter version too) with a few features:
- No XP or levels
- No classes
- No damage rolls
- Only uses d20 and d6 dice
- Diegetic advancement (improve your character by doing things in-game)
- Open-ended skills & bonds system
- Flowchart-y character sheet
Check out the video for a fairly thorough breakdown. Right now it's only available for Paradiso members, but once I do some more playtesting and iteration, I'll release it as a cheap PDF on Itch & DriveThruRPG.
