A new d100 table for HUNDREDS, full of nasty tools.

πŸ’― Bonk, Bonk

I've just released the latest update for HUNDREDS (get it on itch or DriveThruRPG) my big book of d100 tables for Mothership and other SF/Horror RPGs. This is the close-quarters complement to the last update, d100 Ranged Weapons: d100 Melee Weapons. This table also features illustrations by yours truly, drawn in HEAVYPAINT.

You can roll on the new table with a d100 roll for a totally random weapon, or you can roll d10 on any of the specific sub-tables to get a random weapon of a specific type. The categories are:

  1. Non-Lethal Weapons: Not designed to kill, in theory. Commonly used by police forces for crowd control, strikebreaking, and suppressing dissent when simply shooting people is deemed impolitic. Here you'll find things like stun batons, nets, and snares.
  2. Utility Weapons: Tools not designed as weapons, but may be repurposed for use in combat β€” things like sledgehammers and chainsaws.
  3. Cryptic Weapons: Melee weapons disguised as, or hidden inside of, other things. Favored by smugglers and spies. Ranges from pens with concealed needles to well-disguised cybernetic augmentations.
  4. Improvised Weapons: DIY/handmade weapons, commonly the product of necessity and ingenuity in places that manufactured weapons are hard to come by. Things like shivs and piano wire.
  5. Small Weapons: One-handed, easily concealable weapons, like switchblades and plasteel knuckles.
  6. Blunt Weapons: Large weapons that primarily inflict blunt force trauma. Generally hard to conceal. This is where you'll find your truncheons and cyber-gauntlets.
  7. Bladed Weapons: Large cutting weapons. Generally hard to conceal. Things like swords, machetes, and their more technologically advanced cousins.
  8. Defense: Shields and defensive equipment. Not weapons per se, though some may be viable as secondary weapons. Riot shields, gladiatorial bucklers, forcefields, and more!
  9. Energy Weapons: Rare, expensive, experimental high-tech weapons that use focused energy. Hard-light weapons, plasma fists, the works.
  10. Weird Weapons: Particularly unusual and rare weapons. Most are illegal almost everywhere. These range from parts of alien creatures to unstable and dangerous prototypes to the legendary God Hand.

This update brings the public version of HUNDREDS to v8.6.0: 8 major tables, 6 minor (bonus) tables, which means the book is now $8. Of course, Expert members also get access to the book as part of their membership, and Companion members get the Early Access version, 1 table ahead of the public release! Additionally, everyone who already owns the book gets this and all future updates for free :)

If you're a member and you haven't claimed it yet, you'll find it on your account page.

For you Companions, the new Early Access table is a fun bonus table, d100 Things This Place Smells Like, great for adding some sensory details to your descriptions!
